Golden Suns Golf Finishes 11th in Nation

Arkansas Tech University finished 11th in the 2018 NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championships, which concluded on Saturday at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.

The Golden Suns completed the 72-hole event with a team score of 1,250, including a final-round 318.

Pia Nunbhakdi (T-27th, 72-76-77-79-304) was Arkansas Tech’s top individual finisher.

Peerada Piddon (T-34th, 71-78-78-80-307), Allie Weiner (T-51st, 80-83-74-78-315), Holly Standing (T-65th, 82-82-80-81-325) and Avery Struck (70th, 84-82-87-84-337) also contributed to the Golden Suns’ top-11 national finish.

The University of Indianapolis won the team title with a four-day total of 1,157, 38 strokes in front of its nearest competition. UIndy’s Katharina Keilich completed the tournament at 1-under par 287 to claim the individual national title.

Head coach Amy Anderson and the 2017-18 Arkansas Tech women’s golf team won four titles, including a fourth consecutive Great American Conference championship. The Golden Suns qualified for the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championships for the fourth time in the last five years.
