Glasper’s Layup Wins it for Wonder Boys

Not only did R.J. Glasper score 25 points at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Thursday night.

Not only did he become the 33rd Wonder Boy to reach 1,000 career points.

He topped all of that by making a game-winning layup with 5 seconds remaining to give Arkansas Tech a 79-78 triumph over Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

The Wonder Boys (11-16 overall, 9-12 Great American Conference) trailed by as many as 12 points in the second half, but they connected on 7-of-11 3-point tries during those final 20 minutes to slowly chip away at their deficit.

Four straight points by Alex Brown cut the Rangers’ advantage to 78-77 with 47.4 seconds remaining. That set the stage for Glasper, who drove the left side of the lane for the game winner.

Northwestern Oklahoma State (7-20, 5-16) never got a shot during its final possession. The Rangers committed a turnover with 0.2 seconds remaining to seal their eighth loss in their last 11 games.

Will Adler had 20 points and Brown finished with 15 points for Arkansas Tech.

Northwestern’s Jack Peck netted a season-high 27 points.

The Wonder Boys will conclude their 2018-19 season by hosting Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Saturday, March 2. Tip-off at Tucker Coliseum is set for 3 p.m.

Tickets ($5 adults/$3 students and senior citizens) will be available at the door. Free admission will be granted to those with a valid ATU identification card.
