Bracket Set for GAC Baseball Tournament

Arkansas Tech will be the No. 4 seed in the inaugural Great American Conference Baseball Tournament, which will begin on Friday, May 4, at David Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid, Okla.

The Wonder Boys (25-25) will face third-seeded Southwestern Oklahoma State (27-17) at 7 p.m. Friday in the first round of the double-elimination tournament.

The game will be broadcast on KWKK 100.9 FM.

Other first-round games will pit top-seeded Southern Arkansas (32-14) against No. 6 seed Henderson State (23-25) at noon Friday and No. 2 seed Southeastern Oklahoma State (32-15) against fifth-seeded Ouachita Baptist (26-24) at 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Arkansas Tech took 2-of-3 games from Southwestern Oklahoma State during a regular season GAC series in Weatherford, Okla., March 31 and April 1.

The Wonder Boys qualified for the postseason by posting a 13-11 record in conference play and finishing fourth in the GAC standings.

This is Arkansas Tech’s third consecutive baseball postseason berth, its longest such streak since reaching the Gulf South Conference Baseball Tournament three consecutive years from 1997-99.

The 2012 GAC Baseball Tournament will continue through Monday, May 7.
