ATU Volleyball Advances in Service Bracket

The commitment to community service exhibited by the Arkansas Tech University volleyball program has been recognized on a national scale.

It was announced on Monday, April 8, that the Golden Suns volleyball team has advanced to the final round of the NCAA Helper Helper Community Service bracket.

The competition, which began with 64 teams from all levels of NCAA (Divisions I, II and III), measures each team’s community service hours and participation rate during the 2019 calendar year.

The Golden Suns’ competition in the final round is Emporia State University’s softball team.

Coincidentally, Emporia State’s deputy director of athletics is Kristy Bayer. She won an ATU school-record 364 volleyball matches as head coach of the Golden Suns from 2004-17.

She was succeeded as ATU head volleyball coach by Kera Dukic, a former player and assistant coach at Arkansas Tech under Bayer.

Results from the final round of competition in the NCAA Helper Helper Community Service bracket will be posted on arkansastechnews.com as they become available.
