Packed House at Green and Gold Club Luncheon

More than 100 Arkansas Tech fans received an update on the fall athletics season for the Wonder Boys and Golden Suns today during the first Green and Gold Club luncheon.

The luncheon is one of three events that will be held at Western Sizzlin throughout the 2010-11 academic year.

Athletic director and head football coach Steve Mullins, assistant athletic director head volleyball coach Kristy Bayer and head cross country coach Tom Aspel were Monday’s featured speakers.

Bayer said her volleyball team will open their season at home on Monday, September 13, and they are in great physical shape.  She added, “Our girls have worked hard an are in great shape.  We have all our starters back,  which means we have a lot of depth and a lot of options.  If something isn’t working right, we can look down our bench and make changes.

Coach Mullins also spoke about the Wonder Boys as they prepare to open their season.  Mullins said Lambuth University will be a tough team and is coming of a great season last year.  He said the team is ready to face an opponent, and he hopes to see a large crowd at Thone Stadium Thursday night.  Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.

The Green and Gold Club is the booster club for Arkansas Tech Athletics. Members provide critical auxiliary funding for the university’s 10 intercollegiate athletic programs. Click here to view the 2010-11 membership brochure.
