Former ATU Player Helps UGA Reach CFP Final

A Wonder Boy is going to the College Football Playoff national championship game.

Tray Scott, a 2008 and 2010 graduate of Arkansas Tech University, serves as defensive line coach for the University of Georgia. The Bulldogs defeated the University of Oklahoma 54-48 in overtime on Monday, Jan. 1, to earn a berth in the national championship game against the University of Alabama on Monday, Jan. 8.

Scott was an ATU football player from 2003-07. He appeared in 37 games for the Wonder Boys and made a career-high 10 tackles as a senior in 2007.

A native of Crossett, Scott remained with the Arkansas Tech football program as a graduate assistant coach in 2008 and 2009.

He continued his coaching career at Arkansas State University (2010-11), the University of Mississippi (2012), the University of Tennessee-Martin (2013-14) and the University of North Carolina (2015-16) before accepting his current position at Georgia on Feb. 10, 2017.

Scott holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Arkansas Tech.
