Congressman Visits ATU, Tours New Facility

Congressman Steve Womack received a tour of the new multi-sport complex at Arkansas Tech University during a visit to his alma mater on Monday, Aug. 20.

The tour was led by Steve Mullins, director of athletics at ATU.

The $3.86 million facility opened at ATU in spring 2018. The complex provides indoor practice space for the intercollegiate baseball, softball, tennis and men’s golf and women’s golf programs at Tech. Locker room and office space for the baseball program, a training room and a conference room are also included in the project.

It is anticipated that additional intercollegiate athletics programs at Tech and students from the Department of Health and Physical Education will also utilize the facility.

Funding for the project was provided by private donations and existing university reserves.

Womack is a 1979 graduate of ATU and a 2014 inductee into the Arkansas Tech Hall of Distinction. He has represented the Third Congressional District of Arkansas in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2010.

Following his tour of the multi-sport complex, Womack hosted a town hall meeting at ATU’s Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center.
