Bookstore Bucks Giftcard Drawing

Arkansas Tech students have a chance to turn $5 into $300 at the Arkansas Tech Bookstore.

Entering freshmen who purchase a gift card will be entered into a drawing for a $300 gift card to be used for books from the bookstore.  The deadline to purchase a gift card that is eligible for the drawing is July 31.

The bookstore offers gift cards for purchase, and bookstore officials say the bookstore bucks can be used to buy any item that is sold at the Arkansas Tech University Bookstore.

The gift cards can be activated for as little as $5 and may be reloaded at any time.

ASBTDC Announces July Training Seminars

 

Area small businesses will have the opportunity to attend several training sessions on business operations throughout the month of July.

The sessions are hosted by the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center, and the seminars will cover many topics including business strategies and how to market a business in a tough economy.

The regional office of the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center is housed at Arkansas Tech, and it is designed to assist new, existing and expanding businesses by offering a variety of services including consulting, training and market research.

The following seminars will be offered in July:

  • 21st Marketing for Your Business – Friday, July 8, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Russellville Chamber of Commerce, Cost is $30. Presenter is Herb Lawrence of the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center.
  • SBA Workshop – Tuesday, July 11, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Russellville Chamber of Commerce; Cost is $40. Presenter is Pat Walker of the Small Business Administration.
  • Starting a Business – Thursday, July 14, 8:30-11 a.m., Arkansas Tech University Rothwell Hall Room 133; Cost is $30. Presenter is Cass Capen-Housely of the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center.
  • Low Cost Marketing Techniques – Wednesday, July 20, 1-3 p.m., Van Buren Chamber of Commerce; Cost is $30. Presenter is Cass Capen-Housely of the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center.
  • Email Marketing Techniques and Tips – Thursday, July 21, 9 a.m.-noon, Morrilton Chamber of Commerce; Cost is $35 and includes free software trial. Presenter is Cass Capen-Housely of the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center.
  • Santa Principles of Customer Service – Thursday, July 28, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Arkansas Tech University Rothwell Hall Room 133; Cost is $40. Presenter is Santa Alan of Santa Speaks.

Rodney White Honored

Arkansas Tech University – Ozark Campus honored the life of Mr. Rodney White in memory of his kindness, generosity of spirit, and dedication to the students. 

A dedication plaque and photograph of White were unveiled next to the recently renovated snack center, better known as “Rodney’s” during a dedication ceremony held Tuesday, June 28.

White touched the lives of many students, staff, and community members during his tenure from 1966 – 2005.

Read Spring 2011 Tech Action Online

The latest issue of the Tech Action magazine from Arkansas Tech University is now available online.

The spring 2011 issue includes feature stories about James Bibler, Dr. Jack Hamm and Lyndall Stout, all of whom were inducted into the Arkansas Tech Hall of Distinction at spring graduation.

There is also a recap of the Arkansas Tech Centennial Convocation and a tribute to retiring director of bands Hal Cooper.

Tech Door Mats Still Available

If you are looking for the perfect gift for an Arkansas Tech fan, the Office has Residential Life still has door mats available for sale.

The mats (photographed) feature the Arkansas Tech Athletics logo and are available for purchase in two sizes.

The entrance mat is 30 inches by 19 inches and costs $20.  The scatter mat is 45 inches by 34 inches and is $35.

The mats are being sold as a fundraiser for the Residence Hall Association, and they may be purchased by any Arkansas Tech fan.

Those wishing to order one of the mats can visit the Office of Residential Life website and click on the “Tech Door Mats” button or stop by the Office of Residential Life in the Doc Bryan Student Services Building.
