Top Donors Recognized by G&G Cupboard

Representatives from registered student organization Because We Can hosted a pizza party on Tuesday, Oct. 10, for the Arkansas Tech University Office of Financial Aid and the ATU Office of Student Accounts in honor of their leadership in supporting the Green and Gold Cupboard.

Staff members in financial aid and students accounts combined to accumulate 1,229 points and edge out runner-up Office of Information Systems (1,163 points) during a food drive from July 17-Aug. 18. A total of 18 teams participated.

The drive provided the initial stock for the Green and Gold Cupboard, a resource open to any member of the ATU community facing food insecurity. The cupboard opened on Monday, Oct. 2, and will be open 3-6 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (excluding fall break and holidays) during the fall 2017 semester.

In all, members of the ATU community donated 2,492 pounds of food and more than $1,000 in cash to help provide the initial inventory of items at the cupboard.

The Green and Gold Cupboard is located at 1019 N. Arkansas Ave. in Russellville.

Photographed (from left-to-right): Tracey Hale, Alexandra Turner and Raychel Spears accepted the plaque on behalf of the ATU Office of Financial Aid and the ATU Office of Student Accounts as the top team in the summer 2017 drive to stock the Green and Gold Cupboard.
