Stone Honored on Last Night at Miss Arkansas

Miss Arkansas Tech University 2017 Kelsey Stone collected several awards during the finale of the 2017 Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant at Robinson Performance Hall in Little Rock on Saturday, June 17.

Stone won the prestigious Buddy Coleman Memorial Overall Talent award, which carries with it a $2,500 scholarship.

She was also presented with a $1,000 non-finalist talent scholarship and she made the top 15 in the overall competition to collect an additional $1,500 in scholarship funds. She won the Frances Wilson Overall Alpha Talent Award for top Miss Arkansas newcomer in talent and the Miss Arkansas Overall Instrumentalist Award.

Daughter of Kim and Dee Stone, the Arkansas Tech junior earned the talent awards based upon her preliminary vocal and piano performance of “Rise Up.”

Stone received the opportunity to perform her song on the Miss Arkansas stage during the final evening of competition on Saturday.

A 20-year old from Russellville, Stone will continue to represent her university as Miss Tech through February 2018. Her critical issue is “Healthy Habits for a Healthy Life.”

Also representing ATU at the 2017 Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant were students Carly Copeland of Clarksville, Miss Arkansas Valley; Payton Marshall of Belleville, Miss Petit Jean Valley; Madison Oswalt of Harrison, Miss Ozark Mountain; Raigan Purtle of Russellville, Miss Lake Dardanelle; and Rebecca Ward of Clarksville, Miss Ozark Highlands.
