On-Campus Students Honored for 4.0 GPAs

The Arkansas Tech University Office of Residence Life hosted a luncheon celebrating the more than 300 students who lived on campus in fall 2017 and earned a 4.0 grade point average.

A total of 305 on-campus students earned a 4.0 grade point average during the fall 2017 semester. That represents 40.4 percent of the 4.0 GPAs earned by students on the Russellville campus of Arkansas Tech last semester, exceeding the approximately 30 percent of the student body that lives in university housing.

“I think it’s the proximity to classes and faculty members, as well as all the conveniences associated with living on campus,” said Samantha Piechocinski, area coordinator in the ATU Office of Residence Life, when asked about the reasons why on-campus students earned a disproportionately high number of 4.0 GPAs in fall 2017. “The tutoring center is open late now, and we hope that our staff in residence life and the information we share with students are of assistance. Students who live on campus are around like-minded people who are trying to do well. We wanted to do something for these students who worked really hard and recognize them.”
