Saturday, Aug. 22 Residence Hall New Student Move-In 7 or 8:30 a.m., Residence Halls Review your assignment notification information to identify proper move-in time. Orientation Check-In Parent and Family Check-In 8 a.m.-2 p.m., W.O. Young Ballroom New students will receive all of their essentials for orientation, while parents and family members will learn about tutoring, mentoring, career services and other services offered by the Office of Student Success. Lunch 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m., Chambers Cafeteria Family lunch special is $6 per person. Students utilizing a meal plan may begin using their card swipes. Last Minute Goodbyes 3 p.m., Residence Halls Mandatory Floor Meetings 3:30-5 p.m., Residence Halls Resident assistants teach new students about their building and their role in a residence hall community. Location for meetings will be posted on each floor. Dinner 5-7 p.m., Chambers Cafeteria Building Social 7-7:45 p.m., Residence Halls Dessert will be served in the lobby or courtyard of each residence hall for new students, residence life staff members and orientation leaders. Playfair 8 p.m., Tucker Coliseum Wear tennis shoes and be prepared to meet many new friends at what is promised to be an enthusiastic and energetic experience. Tech the Night Away 9:30 p.m.-Midnight, Tucker Coliseum / Doc Bryan parking lots Funnel cakes, roasted corn, fried Oreos, airbrushed tattoos, gladiator jousts and a photo booth are just part of the fun for this carnival. Sunday, Aug. 23 Splish Splash Bash 1-4 p.m., Caraway Hall Lawn Obstacle courses, water slides, shaved ice and more. Campus Recreation Preview 1-4 p.m., Hull Building and Campus Recreation Fields Pick-up games of basketball, volleyball and dodgeball at Hull; flag football, disc golf, birdie golf and softball at the Campus Rec Fields. Dinner 5-7 p.m., Chambers Cafeteria Mandatory Floor Meetings 7 and 9 p.m., Residence Halls Hypnotist 8 and 10 p.m., Witherspoon Auditorium Matt Grisham, master hypnotist, will entertain; orientation leaders will notify new students as to which performance they are scheduled to attend. Monday, Aug. 24 New Student Orientation 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Transfer Student Orientation 1:30-4:30 p.m. Involvement Fair 6-8 p.m., Hindsman Tower Learn about campus organizations and community entities while enjoying free food and a chance to win more than $2,500 in prizes. Outdoor Movie: Pitch Perfect 2 9:30-11:30 p.m., Crabaugh Hall Lawn Drinks and popcorn provided; bring a blanket for seating. Tuesday, Aug. 25 New Student Orientation 8 a.m.-Noon Transfer Student Orientation 9 a.m.-Noon Dinner and Pep Rally 5:30-6 p.m., Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field Learn the cheers, songs and traditions that will make you a true Wonder Boy or Golden Sun. Green and Gold Football Scrimmage 6 p.m., Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field Get a first look at the 2015 Wonder Boys as they prepare for their 11-game Great American Conference schedule. Wednesday, Aug. 26 T-Shirt Trade 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Baswell Techionery Trade a gently worn shirt from a high school or another university for a one-of-a-kind Arkansas Tech T-shirt, which will also be available for purchase for $1. All clothing and funds will be donated to charity. RSO Event Night 5-8 p.m., Various Locations Learn more about how to join and be active in registered student organizations. Watermelon Fest 9-11 p.m., Campus Recreation Fields Highlights will include the fourth annual seed spitting competition, along with Baggo, flag football, Ultimate Frisbee, music and more. Thursday, Aug. 27 Meet the Greeks 6:30-8 p.m., Hindsman Tower Learn more about fraternities and sororities at Arkansas Tech. Acoustic Night 9-11 p.m., Baswell Techionery Fan favorites from last year’s acoustic nights, Tech Idol and Tech’s Got Talent will perform. Friday, Aug. 28 Tech IN Kickoff Event 5-8 p.m., Doc Bryan Courtyard Food, fellowship, dancing and prizes will help introduce students to programs in diversity and inclusion at Tech. Black Light Party 9 p.m.-Midnight, W.O. Young Ballroom The first 500 students will enjoy free T-shirts and a DJ. Saturday, Aug. 29 Day at the Lake 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Lake Dardanelle Swimming, sand volleyball and food will be part of the fun. Shuttles to and from the lake will be provided starting at 11 a.m. in front of the Doc Bryan Student Services Center. Fight On Music Festival 8 p.m., Centennial Plaza Welcome Week 2015 comes to an end with a concert featuring Backroad Anthem, Whiskey Myers and Josh Abbott Band. Admission is free with a valid Arkansas Tech identification card. Each Tech student is permitted to bring two non-university guests to the concert.]]>
