New Scholarship for Concurrent Students

Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus is making its degrees and certificates in career education more attainable for more students with a new scholarship program and a renewed emphasis on connecting students with additional means of financial aid.

ATU-Ozark is reaching out to entering freshmen in fall 2018 who completed concurrent credit with ATU while in high school by offering them a one-time, $500 scholarship.

Additional requirements for the concurrent scholarship include graduation from high school with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0, enrollment at ATU-Ozark in a minimum of 12 hours during the fall 2018 semester and U.S. citizenship.

“This new scholarship program will provide students with greater access to high-demand, high-wage careers,” said Bruce Sikes, chancellor at ATU-Ozark. “Arkansas Tech-Ozark Campus is an affordable access point for training in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and other skills that employers are seeking.”

ATU-Ozark is also connecting students with the Arkansas Futures (ARFutures) grant, which can lead to tuition-free college for many students.

Richard Harris, chief student officer at ATU-Ozark, said the Ozark campus of Arkansas Tech leads the region in ARFuture eligible programs of study with 29.

“Part of the mission of our institution is to create affordable access points for anyone interested in going to college,” said Harris. “The addition of the concurrent scholarship program for area high school students and the ARFutures grant, which is available to graduating seniors and adult learners, now makes it easier than ever to afford the life-changing benefits of an advanced academic credential.”
