More recent high school grads choosing ATU-Ozark

Students fresh out of high school from across the region choose Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus for a multitude of reasons. For Madison Brown it was simple.

“You are not just another face in the crowd at Arkansas Tech-Ozark,” Brown said. “With smaller class sizes, I get more one-on-one time with my instructors. Plus, the instructors are really easy to talk to. They are very personable here.”

Arkansas Tech-Ozark saw a nine percent increase in recent high school graduates enrolled this fall.

Brown falls into that category. She is a freshman nursing major from Alma.

“The reputation of the nursing program was very high,” she added. “With the small town feel of the campus and a quality nursing program, I knew it was a good fit. I feel confident that I will be a successful.”

Another freshman and recent high school graduate, Austin Gantt, also said he appreciates the feel of the campus.

“I chose ATU Ozark because I like the environment here,” Gantt said. “Everyone is so friendly and nice. You are not just another number. Before I even started classes, instructor Chris Rambo
knew me by name. He remembered me after speaking to me at one of the campus tours. That really sold me on this university.”

Gantt, a recent Pottsville High School graduate, only has one year left of classes until he earns his associate degree in law enforcement thanks to concurrent credit he earned as a high school student through the Arkansas Tech Career Center in Russellville. He aspires to work for the FBI one day.

“I am happy with my choice,” Gantt said. “The people, the atmosphere, the environment. It is always so positive and energetic. Everyone is so willing to help.”
