ATU Ozark to offer Agriculture Business Classes This Fall

This fall, Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus is offering two introductory agriculture business classes.

The fall semester runs Aug. 23 through Dec. 13. The courses will meet at Arkansas Tech’s Ozark campus located at 1700 Helberg Lane.

Agricultural orientation will meet Fridays from 11 a.m. – 11:50 a.m. This is a freshman course with attention given to sharing of possible solutions to individual problems.

Principles of Agricultural Business will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11 a.m. – 12:20 p.m. This introductory course includes an overview of the economic theories associated with the production, consumption, and marketing of agricultural products, and with the policies designed to achieve efficiency and welfare goals in agriculture.

Principles of Plant Science will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. – 12:20 p.m. with a lab on Thursdays from 2 p.m. – 3:50 p.m. This course is a study of important plant practices associated with horticulture and agronomic crop production, including classification of plants, the role of soil and the environment, plant management, cropping systems, and integrated pest management and harvest methods.

In Spring 2018, a course on soils and an introduction to forestry course will be offered.

Students can begin coursework in Ozark and transition to the Russellville campus to complete all the degree requirements.
