ATU Ozark to Host Health Information Technology Conference

The Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus Health Information Technology Department will host a conference on “Changes that Affect Quality of Health Care” from 9:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25, in the Student Services Conference Center at Arkansas Tech-Ozark.

This event is free and open to the public.

The conference will focus on the use of electronic health records as one of the major changes in the way health care is accessed according to Brenda Huntsinger, event organizer and health information technology instructor at Arkansas Tech-Ozark.

“We are always trying to find new ways to educate our students and the community on the future of healthcare and the changing avenues of how health information is transmitted,” Huntsinger said. “This conference furthers our mission of helping students succeed, innovation thrive and communities flourish.”

Featured Speakers include:
• Dr. Mark Miller – Dr. Miller specializes in family medicine and practices in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
• Bonnie Sher – Sher is the Arkansas Tech-Ozark Campus Health Information Technology Program Chair.
• Karen Hillard – Hillard is a graduate of the Arkansas Tech-Ozark Campus nursing program. She serves as Director of Clinical Services for Christian Healthcare at Rogers. She is responsible for seven medical facilities.

“One of the goals of electronic health records is to improve patient care and reduce costs,” Huntsinger said. “Our speakers have stayed abreast of these rapid changes and the effect it has on patient care delivery.”
