ATU Ozark Career Fair set for April 5

The Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus Spring 2017 Career Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, in the Student Services Conference Center.

More than 300 regional businesses have been invited to participate in the event, which is being hosted by Arkansas Tech-Ozark’s Career Pathway Initiative (CPI), a program that assists low-income parents to meet educational and career-training goals that, ultimately, lead to a high-demand, high-wage career.

CPI Employability Coordinator Julie Schmalz said students need to bring copies of their resume and are encouraged to “dress to impress.”

“These are potential future employers, and you want to make the best first impression you can, so dress professionally,” she said. “The more organizations you meet with, the more connections you make, the greater your chances for success.”

Business representatives from the following industries will be on hand:

Automation Technology;
Computer information systems;
Physical therapy assistant;
Occupational therapy assistant;
Air conditioning and refrigeration;
Enology and viticulture;
Law enforcement;
Practical nursing;
EMT/paramedic;
Business technology;
Welding technology.

Chief Student Officer Richard Harris said, “It’s important for students to start the job-search process as they’re winding down their coursework, and not wait until after graduation.

“The Career Fair is an excellent opportunity to get a feel for the kinds of jobs out there and make connections with prospective employers.”
