Arkansas Tech faculty member Ernest Enchelmayer recently returned from Austria after meeting with representatives from more than 30 countries at a conference. Enchelmayer attend the International Journal of Arts and Sciences (IJAS) European Conference for Academic Disciplines. Enchelmayer is an assistant professor of English at Arkansas Tech.
As part of the conference, Enchelmayer chaired a session and presented a paper on “Rhetoric in the Visual Arts.”
This was Enchelmayer’s first time to attend the conference, and he said it was “of a high professional caliber” and was attended by numerous representatives from around the world. He added, “I don’t know that I’ve ever been to a conference so diverse.”
Enchelmayer said he hopes several of the sessions he attended will “have a positive impact for students” at Arkansas Tech.
Enchelmayer attended a business communication session that focused on how cultural backgrounds impact communication. He said the information he received “will enhance what I deliver in the classroom about communication skills and audience awareness.”
He also attended a session on how Chinese characters “enhance the expressive power of the Chinese language.” Enchelmayer said the information will be useful, as he often teaches a “graduate course on rhetoric as part of the Taiwanese Cohort program.”
