Students Participate in Centennial

More than 40 graphic arts students at Arkansas Tech are participating in Tech’s Centennial in a unique way.

The students created centennial designs as a class project.  The designs are based on the Arkansas Tech Centennial slogan “1909-2009 A Century Forward,” and the projects show life on the Arkansas Tech Campus over the past 100 years.

The student designs are on display in the gallery space in Tomlinson Hall.

Julie Morgan, assistant to the president and on-campus coordinator of the centennial, says the students exceeded expectations.  She adds, “The students did an outstanding job creating these projects.  There are numerous designs that showcase the talents of our students and the different facets of life on the Arkansas Tech Campus over the past 100 years.  We look forward to continuing to utilize the many talents of our student body.”

The students are enrolled in Edwin Cuenco’s graphic design classes, and he says the project is a “win-win” for everyone.  He adds, “This gives the students great experience working to design for clients, and they also gain experience working under deadlines.  For Arkansas Tech, they are able to have access to numerous designs and works that they may decide to use.”
