A series of plays and scenes collectively entitled “Kaleidoscope: An Evening of Student-Directed One Acts” will conclude the 2017-18 Arkansas Tech University Theatre schedule with performances on Thursday, April 19, and Friday, April 20.
Both performances will begin at 8 p.m. in the Techionery Theatre, 1502 N. El Paso Ave. in Russellville. Tickets ($8 for general admission, $5 with valid ATU identification card) will be available at the door. Tickets will not be sold in advance.
“By choosing and presenting these plays, the students learn how to hone their sense of artistic vision, making them better leaders and artists,” said Dr. David J. Eshelman, associate professor of communication and director of the theatre program at Arkansas Tech.
Robert Warner of Little Rock will serve as technical director as well as set and lighting designer for “Kaleidoscope,” while Tanner Williams of Pearcy will perform the duties of stage manager. The students involved are upper-level, undergraduate students in Dr. Ardith Morris’ advanced directing class.
One-act performances scheduled for April 19-20 include:
- “Daddy Issues” by Hillary DePiano, directed by Holly Willmon of Bauxite
- “Ecoman” by the San Francisco Mime Troupe, directed by Nathan Yzaguirre of Hot Springs
- “The Sandbox” by Edward Albee, directed by Maegan Anderson of London
- Scenes from “Almost, Maine” by John Cariani, directed by Alexa Carrington of Fayetteville and Katie Potts of Charleston
- Scenes from “The Colored Museum” by George C. Wolfe, directed by Summer Dantzler of Conway, Taylor Paulk of Little Rock and Glen Poole of Fort Smith
