New Automation Training Coming to ATCC

Secondary and post-secondary classes in automation technology will be available to learners ranging from high school students to adults at Arkansas Tech Career Center in Russellville beginning with the fall 2017 semester.

Bruce Sikes, chancellor of Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus, said the offerings will connect individuals with job opportunities and industries with training opportunities for their current employees.

“The automation technology program located at Arkansas Tech Career Center is the university’s response to providing a trained workforce supporting our regional industries,” said Sikes. “This project is a culmination of planning that began in 2015. The skills obtained through working in the automation industry are utilized in manufacturing and include a number of other industries, including warehousing. We feel the Russellville community has great capacity to support the automation program. The Arkansas River Valley is a great place to raise a family, the industry is here and with some training a good salary is a reality.”

Classes are forming for the fall 2017 semester. Individuals interested in enrolling in the automation technology courses may call (479) 968-5422 or (479) 667-2117.
