The Arkansas Tech University College of Natural and Health Sciences has received a $1,000 matching grant from Entergy Foundation that will foster research in the classroom.
The funds will make possible the purchase of a new classroom set of hands-on learning tools for the laboratory portion of biochemistry courses at ATU.
“We want our students to have real experiences rather than simply working on techniques,” said Dr. Newton Hilliard, associate professor of chemistry. “We can achieve this through research projects, some of which will go on to be presented at local and regional conferences. That is value added education. Students can complete the course with a new line on their resume in addition to a line on their degree plan.”
