Book Signing Monday in Witherspoon Lobby

The Arkansas Tech University Department of History and Political Science will host a book signing featuring Dr. Mildred Diane Gleason on Monday, Sept. 11.

The event will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Witherspoon Hall lobby. All students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the university are invited.

In addition to the mid-day book signing, Gleason will also give a presentation about her new book at 7 p.m. Monday in Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center room 300. The public is invited.

Gleason is the author of “Dardanelle and the Bottoms: Environment, Agriculture and Economy in an Arkansas River Community, 1819-1970,” which was published in August 2017 by the University of Arkansas Press.

The book explores the relationship that existed between the Yell County community of Dardanelle and the farmers living in the surrounding area through multiple eras of societal and economic change.

Gleason retired as associate professor of history at ATU at the conclusion of the 2016-17 academic year. She previously co-authored “Warren G. Harding: Harbinger of Normalcy.”
