An anonymous donor has made a $190,000 gift to the Arkansas Tech University Foundation that will endow a new scholarship opportunity at ATU.
As a result of the donation, up to two ATU students per semester will receive the Logan County Service Scholarship. Applicants must be residents of Logan County. Preference will be given to applicants who are veterans of the U.S. armed services or a dependent of a veteran. Demonstrated financial need will also be a consideration in the selection process.
“Creating access to higher education is at the forefront of our daily efforts in support of student success at Arkansas Tech University,” said Mike Hutchison, ATU vice president for advancement. “Gifts such as the one creating the Logan County Service Scholarship represent an investment in the future by donors who believe in the mission and vision of our institution.”
The scholarship will be awarded for one semester and is renewable for the subsequent semester.
An additional $10,000 from the same anonymous donor will help the university open a new student lounge designed specifically for veterans in the Doc Bryan Student Services Center. The idea for the lounge was part of a group innovation project in Leadership Tech, a professional development program for ATU faculty and staff.
