Wonder Boys Win Series at Henderson State

Arkansas Tech University won its third consecutive Great American Conference baseball series by taking 2-of-3 games from Henderson State University at Clyde Berry Field in Arkadelphia on Sunday and Monday.

The Wonder Boys (12-9 overall, 7-5 GAC) will host Southern Nazarene University for a three-game series at Tech Field in Russellville on Friday, March 16, and Saturday, March 17. Game One: Tech 7, HSU 5

Arkansas Tech erupted for five runs in the top of the seventh inning to come from behind and defeat Henderson State 7-5 in game one of their series on Sunday.

Dylan McDearmon broke a 5-5 tie and gave the Wonder Boys the lead for good on an RBI double as part of the seventh-inning rally.

Riley Hickerson drove in three runs for Tech.

ATU starting pitcher Michael Mueller (2-2) allowed five runs on six hits over eight innings. Isaac Hale recorded the final three outs for his first save of 2018.

Game Two: HSU 6, Tech 1

Zach Eschberger pitched a complete game to lead Henderson State to a 6-1 victory over Arkansas Tech in Sunday’s nightcap.

Eschberger (3-0) limited the Wonder Boys to one run on five hits over seven innings.

Harry Gard drove in Tech’s lone run.

Game Three: Tech 8, HSU 5

Riley Hickerson clubbed a grand slam and Mark Vaughn smashed a three-run home run to catapult Arkansas Tech over Henderson State 8-5 in the series finale on Monday.

Tech starting pitcher Hayes Cox (4-2) scattered eight hits over six and one-third innings. He was charged with three runs, two of which were earned. Cox struck out five Reddies.
