Wonder Boys Slug Their Way Past Scots

Arkansas Tech University piled up nine extra base hits in a 13-4 rout of Lyon College in non-conference baseball at Tech Field in Russellville on Tuesday night.

The Wonder Boys (24-13) raced out to a 9-0 lead after four innings and cruised to a victory that avenged an 8-6 loss against the Scots in Batesville on March 6.

Tech’s Shane Pollard went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs batted in, while Jake Harvey was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Cody Wescott and Korey Thompson drove in two runs apiece.

ATU starting pitcher Anthony Race (2-1) allowed four runs on seven hits in six innings.

Arkansas Tech is scheduled to host the University of Arkansas-Monticello for a three-game GAC series at Tech Field in Russellville on Friday, April 13, and Saturday, April 14. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.
