Wonder Boys Move Past HU in GAC Tourney

Already down a game in the best 2-of-3 baseball series and trailing Harding University 4-2 in game two, Arkansas Tech University was facing elimination from the Great American Conference Tournament and the possible end of its 2017 baseball season on Saturday afternoon.

It all changed in the bottom of the sixth inning with that most mundane of actions: a lead-off walk.

Mark Vaughn drew that free pass on a 3-2 pitch, sparking a five-run rally that gave the Wonder Boys the lead for good in an 8-4 victory.

Arkansas Tech completed the comeback by defeating the Bisons 10-6 in game three.

By taking 2-of-3 games during the GAC Tournament-opening series, the Wonder Boys advance to the final stage of the conference’s postseason tournament May 11-13 in Arkadelphia.

Arkansas Tech will face the University of Arkansas-Monticello at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, at Clyde Berry Field. Live coverage will be available at www.arkansastechsports.com.
