Suns Post Comeback Wins Over SNU

Game One: Arkansas Tech 7, SNU 5 Chelsea Reeves’ two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning gave Arkansas Tech the lead for good in a 7-5 victory over Southern Nazarene in Sunday’s first game. Reeves delivered a blast over the left-center field fence that gave the Golden Suns a 6-5 edge. Janie Knowles provided Arkansas Tech with an insurance run later in the inning on an infield RBI single. Sydnee Clark pitched a spotless top of the seventh inning to earn her first save of 2015. Kelsie Barker (4-2) worked one and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief to collect the victory. Ashley Savage was 2-for-2 with a home run and three runs batted in for the Golden Suns. Game Two: Arkansas Tech 5, SNU 4 Arkansas Tech made its final home athletics event of the 2014-15 regular season a memorable one, scoring four runs in its last turn at bat to come from behind and defeat Southern Nazarene 5-4 in the nightcap on Sunday. With her team trailing 4-1 heading to the bottom of the seventh inning, Courtney Colunga sparked the Arkansas Tech rally with a lead-off double. Singles by Shanna Davidson and Alex Edinger loaded the bases with no one out. Knowles followed with an RBI single that brought pinch-runner Ashley Anderson home. A Southern Nazarene error on the play allowed Davidson to score and pull the Golden Suns within 4-3. Kambri Hill drove in the tying run with an RBI single to right field. Three batters later, with the bases loaded and one out, Savage sent a walk-off single down the right field line that drove in Knowles with the winning run. Clark (11-3) went the distance in the circle for Arkansas Tech. She was charged with four runs, two of which were earned, on six hits in seven innings. Tech’s Jalissa Gum was 3-for-3.]]>
