Suns Go For Season Sweep of Lady Dragons

Arkansas Tech University will pay a return visit to Lane College (Tenn.) on Thursday, Dec. 14, for the second women’s basketball meeting between the two institutions this season.

It will be the final game before the holiday break for the Golden Suns, who will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 30, with a 1 p.m. home game against Lincoln University (Mo.).

Tickets for the Dec. 30 game ($5 adults/$3 students and senior citizens) will be available at the coliseum ticket office on game day. Those with a valid ATU identification card will be admitted free of charge.

About the Golden Suns: Arkansas Tech defeated Lane College 86-49 when the two sides met for a season-opening game on Nov. 12. The Golden Suns jumped out to a 17-1 lead over the first six minutes of the game and remained in control the rest of the afternoon. Five Suns reached double figures in scoring, led by senior forward Cheyenne North and freshman guard Ke’Vonshaye Stackhouse with 13 points apiece. ATU leads the Great American Conference in scoring offense (82.7 points per game), field goal percentage defense (.324), rebound margin (+12 per game) and steals (14.3 per game).

About the Lady Dragons: Lane College earned its first win of the season by defeating Kentucky State University 69-56 on Dec. 2. The Lady Dragons have since suffered back-to-back losses to the University of North Alabama (79-55 on Saturday) and Lee University (86-64 on Tuesday). Junior forward LaKeiya Lane (12.3 points per game) is Lane’s leading scorer.
