Suns Climb to No. 8, Take Two Awards

Arkansas Tech University’s volleyball program received more team and individual accolades on Monday, Nov. 13.

The Golden Suns (32-0) climbed to No. 8 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division II top 25 poll, which is one spot higher than the previous week.

On the individual side, sophomore Amanda Milnick of Tahlequah, Okla., was named Great American Conference setter of the week and freshman Lexie Johnston of Nixa, Mo., earned GAC offensive player of the week honors.

Milnick and Johnston helped the Golden Suns earn five-set victories over Harding University and Ouachita Baptist University last week. With the wins, Arkansas Tech clinched the GAC regular season championship outright and completed the first undefeated regular season in Golden Suns volleyball history.

Arkansas Tech will be the No. 1 seed in the GAC Tournament, which will be played Nov. 16-18 at Bank of the Ozarks Arena in Hot Springs.

The Golden Suns’ first-round match against Southeastern Oklahoma State University will begin at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16. Live coverage will be available at www.arkansastechsports.com.
