Golden Suns Sweep RiverHawks

Game One: Tech 13, NSU 2 Whitney Robinson was 3-for-4 with three runs batted in and two runs scored to lead Arkansas Tech to a mercy-rule shortened 13-2 victory over Northeastern State in game one on Tuesday. Robinson was one of four Golden Suns to hit a home run in the game. The others were Jalissa Gum, Ashley Keen and Siarra Gomez. Keen, Gomez and Shanna Davidson had two RBIs apiece. Gum (3-1) tossed a complete game in the circle for Arkansas Tech. She struck out six RiverHawk batters and allowed two runs on five hits over six innings. The game was stopped after the sixth inning due to the mercy rule. Game Two: Tech 9, NSU 6 Arkansas Tech continued its offensive onslaught with 12 base hits in a 9-6 win over Northeastern State in the nightcap. The Golden Suns had a total of 25 base hits during Tuesday’s twin bill. Courtney Colunga led the way in game two. She was 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Gum and Chelsea Reeves both drove in two runs. Robinson was 2-for-2 with four runs scored. Ashley Savage added two hits. Arkansas Tech starting pitcher Carlie Caruthers (1-2) went the distance in the circle to earn the win. Caruthers allowed six runs, five earned, on 10 hits over seven innings.]]>
