Gold Rush Basketball Games Thursday Night

Arkansas Tech University students can get free T-shirts during both games and help the Wonder Boys try to knock off a nationally-ranked opponent in the nightcap of a Great American Conference doubleheader at Tucker Coliseum on Thursday, Feb. 8.

Game times are set for 5:30 p.m. (women) and 7:30 p.m. (men). Admission will be free with a valid ATU identification card.

A total of 150 Gold Rush T-shirts (75 at halftime of the women’s game and 75 at halftime of the men’s game) will be distributed to students with valid ATU IDs.

ATU Student Government Association, sponsor of Gold Rush as the final event in Wonder Week, will hand out 150 T-shirt vouchers at 5:15 p.m. at Tucker Coliseum. Of those, 75 of the tickets will be good for redemption at halftime of the Golden Suns’ game, while the other 75 tickets will be eligible for redemption at halftime of the Wonder Boys’ game.

Students will also have opportunities to compete in contests for prizes.

The Golden Suns (16-3 overall, 12-3 GAC) are tied for second place in the conference standings with seven regular season games remaining. They will try to complete a regular season sweep of Southern Nazarene (7-12, 5-10).

The Wonder Boys (14-7, 8-7) will have an opportunity to hand Southern Nazarene (18-1, 15-0) its first loss in GAC men’s basketball action this season. The Crimson Storm has won 14 consecutive games and is ranked No. 10 in the nation at the NCAA Division II level.
