Day Two Brings Better Results for ATU

The Great American Conference softball series between Arkansas Tech University and Ouachita Baptist University spread over Saturday and Sunday was a case of two days with two very different stories.

The Lady Tigers earned 7-4 and 8-6 victories on Saturday, while the Golden Suns fought back to earn a push in the four-game series by defeating Ouachita 4-1 and 6-3 on Sunday.

The series, originally scheduled for Arkadelphia, was played in Conway due to soggy field conditions at OBU.

Megan Goodnight pitched a complete game for Tech in Sunday’s opener. A five-run rally in the top of the seventh and final inning was the key to victory for Tech in the series finale.

The Golden Suns (15-5 overall, 6-2 GAC), who have played their first 20 games of the season away from home, will make their 2018 debut at the Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex by hosting Henderson State University for a four-game series on Sunday, March 11, and Monday, March 12.

First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday and noon Monday. Live coverage will be available at www.arkansastechsports.com.
