Bryan Earns Statewide Art Education Award

Arkansas Tech University alumna Ashley Hopkins Bryan has received the 2017 Arkansas Art Educators Association elementary level art educator of the year award.

A 2004 graduate of ATU with a Bachelor of Arts degree in graphic design, Bryan added an art education endorsement in 2007. She has taught in the Russellville School District since 2009 and is a member of the faculty at Sequoyah Elementary School.

Bryan joined the Arkansas Art Educators Association while still a student at ATU. Today, she serves the organization’s board of directors as its elementary division director.

Criteria for the award include:

• Demonstrated outstanding leadership within the field of teaching.
• Demonstrated leadership within the Arkansas Art Educators Association
• Contributed to the body of knowledge in art education at the local, state or national level.
• Advanced the cause of art education through strong advocacy and leadership.
• Motivated and inspired others including students, colleagues, community members or members of the teaching profession.
